Enlarged lymph node in groin

Hi, I have just had an ultrasound on a lump in my groin which I've had for a few months. Painless, hard but rubbery. The radiologist said it didn't seem sinister but said you can only tell so much on an ultrasound picture. It measures 1.7cm and she confirmed it's a lymph node.

I haven't been ill recently and have no infection or anything, and it's not tender like a reactive lymph node would be. She's referred me back to my GP so I'm waiting for an appointment currently. I'm very worried as I've done a lot of googling! I've been sleeping a lot lately and experienced some fatigue so I'm anxious about it.

Anyone else in this situation?

Thank you!

  • Hello Anxious1999,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat!

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your GP appointment. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. It's really reassuring that the radiologist said it didn't seem to be anything sinister. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
