I have been having ongoing pain right side, ribs, for a few months.

I had an unrelated reason to visit ER recently and had an abdominal and pelvic CT scan. Also chest front and back x rays and full bloods. The CT scan showed all the organs to be normal. The bloods showed an infection which was consistent with the diverticular disease I know I have and which was flaring up. The CT scan also clearly showed diverticulitis. Antibiotics cleared it up, inflammation markers have returned to normal.

Side is still sore though and a bit swollen.

My question is, should I bother asking for another CT? My GP says that they have checked it all and all my organs are mentioned in the report as being normal. He says it's like an MOT and I'm lucky because we have a baseline and all is well.

I'd love to believe that!

By a process of elimination they think the pain is costochondritis and rest and ice etc are all they can suggest (given I can't take pain meds due to diverticulitis).
