CA125 level slightly raised at 49 with other symptoms

Hi all so bit of a back story I was trying for 6 years to get pregnant had 11 ectopic pregnancies over the years, turns out I had blocked tubes in between the eptopics did an op to clear the fluid and I had my daughter who's now 5. Anyway since having her I continued to have eptopics so either the fluid came back or my tubes were damaged, two years ago after another one I decided enough was enough and asked them to remove the tubes which they did, but ever since having it done I've had a strange feeling on my right side, over the last two years I've said to various people there something not right on my right side.

Anyway the on the days leading up to my period last month I had a really bad pain in my right side I was taking paracetamol as sat wishing i would start as it was so painful, although the paracetamol didn't touch the pain after 3 days the pain was slowly get worse an still no period, in the end I was convinced to call the doctors, who asked me to go in.

By which time I had started, he examined me and and the only place that hurt to touch was the right side where the ovary is he tried both sides and just above where I was getting the pain and all was fine those places to which he said it was very localised to right ovary. So he had bloods done the same day, next day the receptionist called to say they had had my results but needed more that day and was  Adamant it was done asap that day...so that's the first thing that put me in a spin as they got back to me so fast.

So I rushed to have them done, only to get and email a few days later to say the had the results from both and I needed to make a phone appointment to discuss them but it was non  Urgent....OK so I calmed down a bit.

They didnt make the phone appointment for another 2.5 weeks so thought that's good. Well had the call today and he told me my CA125 level is 49 so slightly hi, I said that's the cancer one right? To which he said yes but not to worry it could be something else...

So now I'm waiting on appointments for gynaecology, the thing is i have 95% of the symptoms for ov and as I've been so unlucky with my reproductive organs Im not goin to be at all surprised if/when it come back as bad news.

My question is I know 49 is not massively high so can you guys give me examples of what happened when you had raised ca125 plz.

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health concerns and that you're now waiting on an appointment with the specialist. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

Although CA125 is produced by some ovarian cancer cells a raised level does not mean you definitely have cancer, as it can also be caused by other conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids. Given that you've mentioned you've struggled with gynae issues for many years it's understandable that you're feeling worried about things but try not to jump to conclusions at this point.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they would be happy to try and offer some advice, information, and support ahead of your appointment. If you'd like to chat things through with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you don' have to wait too long for your appointment and that the team is able to give you some reassurance about things. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
