Hi all I am so desperate had a mole scan done in boots on Monday. They have told me they think its highly suspicious for melanoma I am worried I am going to die
I know it's scary but it's very unlikely you are going to die. Please make an appointment with your GP so they can assess if you need referring to dermatology. If you do, they may want to remove it for biopsy but don't panic as this is the only way to 100% know if it's malignant. Most patients get a clean bill of health or the mole is pre cancerous. Only 5% are found to be malignant and if caught early there is a 95% chance it will be treated successfully. The quicker it's checked out the better. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
It is very scary at the beginning as there is so much unknown; I was diagnosed with Stage 3 skin melanoma earlier this year. While I'm still struggling with the mental challenge of coping with this it's only because I've had other non related issues to deal with (hearing loss). I found that talking about your worries and concerns with a close group of people can really help.
