I’m not sure how to deal with this.

Hi All,

I sadly lost a relative in January with Pancreatic Cancer.
anyway fast forward to now, in the past 2-3 months I've had terrible chest pains, which let me to landing in A&E. I had a number of tests, ecg, 2 X-rays & two mris. Sent home to take painkillers. The heart has been given the all clear. There was apparently some shadowing on the breast area which despite the X-ray & mri's they couldn't figure it out so sent it to my GP.
I had a few other symptoms , Alternating of constipation and diarrhoea for few years, finding it’s getting worse.
Sometimes feeling unfinished
Sometimes need to dash toilet
Irregular pain around lower intestines
Noticed mucus floating around with stools
Appetite can be mixed, sometimes get this urge to vomit either the smell of something cooking or when eating the last of a meal, Bedroom issues with partners, Fatigue, Lightheaded.

I went to see My GP last week & he mentioned in passing about a bowel disease. He requested a blood test, and stool sample, Then I come to find a fast track referral has been made to my local breast clinic, and all I'm seeing is cancer. As I didn't think shadowing on X-rays & mris would be relating to bowel disease. Anyway he wants to see me after the results have all come back from everything. After seeing the decline & being that carer during Covid, I'm not sure I'm ready to take on another battle with whatever it may be.

  • Hello nephew2021

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems recently. it's understandable that you're feeling worried especially as you lost a relative earlier this year.

It's good to hear that you've already been to see your GP and that they've arranged some tests regarding the bowel symptoms you're dealing with as well as following up on the shadowing that was noted on a recent x-ray. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the appointment at the clinic or for the tests the GP has requested.

We know that waiting for tests and results can be a really difficult time and it's understandable that you're feeling as you've described. It can sometimes help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you'd find it beneficial to have a chat with one of our team of nruses about things. I'm sure they will be happy to chat and to offer day advice, information, and support that they can. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
