Pea sized lump under chin

Hi everyone, 7 months  ago my chin swelled up, I went to doctors who prescribed antibiotics and it went back down2 months later it was back, same again antibiotics and it went down. 2 weeks later it was back again, I tried to get an appointment but couldn't get in and it went back down on its own. Since then it's been up and down 5/6 times. From the past 3 times I noticed a pea sized lump that just stays and the neck under my chin seems to have doubled in size although it doesn't feel swollen. I've been back to the doctors who did a urgent referral to ENT. I've just had that appointment and he can feel the lump and is requesting a ultrasound. He says if it is a solid mass they will do a biopsy otherwise will probably just leave it. Has anyone else been through this or had any advice. It's now another 4 week wait for the ultrasound so I'm stressing wondering what it could be. Thank you

  • Hi Vicky,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be unsettling and I know the waiting and uncertainty is never easy.

You've done the right thing by getting this looked at and hopefully you're on the path to getting some answers. At least you have some next steps in place and a specialist looking at it. In the meantime while you wait, perhaps try to keep yourself busy to help keep your mind off things.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Just letting you know I had a lump under my chin for months as a teen. I was told it was a swollen gland and it eventually sorted itself out x
