Worried I have Cervical Cancer

Please be patient when reading this because I'm trying to explain my problem as best as i can.

It's been 10 plus yrs since I was diagnosed as going through the menopause & my periods have always been as regular as clockwork until just over 2 yrs ago when they stopped, This March should have been my cancer smear but I still can't get an appointment due to the Covid situation. As you probably all know, symptoms of cervical cancer can be lower back pain, pain & swelling of one leg & pinky brown discharge that smells like a period. I've always suffered with lower back pain which I put down to gaining too much weight but the past few months it's been unbearable pain when trying to lift something light it just bending down to pick up & ive been having like an aggravating ache in my left leg, my knee keeps swelling, crunching when I move it, theres a big lump behind my knee that feels like it's attached to something that's stretching quite painfully when I move my leg & im in pain when walking on it. At night in bed I get pain in the inner side of my knee, my knee swells & from the knee to my ankle feels like my leg is too heavy to move.

Now just 6 days ago I started having pain in the side of both breasts like I did when a period was due & then I started having pinky brown discharge that smells.

Does anyone think the lower back pain, left leg problems & now the discharge mean I've got cervical cancer?

  • Hello Meemee,

There's no way of knowing the cause of your symptoms so the best thing to do is to speak to your doctor about your concerns. I hope you can get an appointment soon and don't be afraid to chase it up. There are some tips here to help make the most of appointments, as I know it's difficult during this pandemic. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better and it's important to look after your wellbeing.

    I hope this is helpful,
