Not sure how I feel re scan results

I had a CT scan less then 2 weeks ago and I had a call on Friday morning to say there had found a dense patch in my left kidney about 2.8cm in size and I needed an MRI.

They have also found 2 x 1cm dots in one of my lungs but I've had a virus / chest infection for ages now so it could just be that .

There is also a problem at the bottom of my bowel which they think is a tubular cyst but it's not changed from the last scan but they want to have it checked .

I asked them outright if they thought the kidney problem was cancer and she said yes they did think it was but then again it could be a benign tumour.

im going on holiday on Friday and they have said I can still go but I have been referred to the renal team and colorectal team for when I get back .

I feel a bit .... well I don't really know how I feel , it somehow doesn't feel real and I'm scared , I'm terrified of having an MRI too as I don't like small spaces.

im going to try and out it to the back of my mind fir my holidays but it's going to be tough .

Any advice will be greatly appreciated x

  • Hi Blonde once

Sorry to read what your going through.

When I had my mammogram recall i had ultrasound and further mammogram the consultant told me it was highly likely cancer. I was shocked and suprised people as I just picked myself up and got on with everything. My mindset was obviously shock but I couldn't change what was ahead so I had to put my big girl pants on and fight.

It's not been easy I'm half way through chemo but the end is in sight as I tick my sessions off.

Easier said than done but enjoy your holiday as best you can, a change of scene will help. The mri although I'm like you will be ok the staff are very supportive and used to nervous patients.

Let me know how you get on.

    Louise xx

  • Hi Louise

Thank you for your lovley reply

Im also going to put my big girl pants on and enjoy the holiday , the thing is I've got no symptoms related to the kidney , this all came about in July when I just happened to mention that I was having horrendous sweats day and night , it went from there but also nothing showing in my bloods.

Im pleased your getting through your chemo and there's an end in sight , I wish you well Louise

    Take care now xxxx
