Assuming I’m cancer free?

I had a tonsillectomy on 10th September as my tonsils were asymmetrical indicating tonsil cancer. I received a letter today giving me a follow up appointment for 11th October. As this will be a month after the op I'm assuming all is well? Surely, if anything sinister had been found my appointment would be a lot sooner? Should I be celebrating?

  • Hello Hayleyjoyce and welcome to Cancer Chat,

It's difficult really to tell before you've seen them at your appointment what it means exactly but I am keeping everything crossed for you that this is a good sign and that all is well. Perhaps you could try and ring your surgery or the hospital and ask whether they have any information they could share about your results ahead of your appointment? You could say that you are quite worried about it and wanted to make sure that cancer has been ruled out.

I am keeping everything tightly crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine.

    Best wishes,
