Skin cancer worries -referral

I noticed a red spot /lesion on my nose a year ago . Went to GPwho said it was probably nothing . I've been back again today because I'm still worried -it's hard to say if it's changed ( my husband doesn't think so
long story short I've seen a different gp and she's sent an urgent referral to hospital dermatology. She compared a picture from a year ago to what it looks like now and thinks it has spread
Understand it's best to check but this has sent me in a spin -I'm now wishing I'd not left it a year and had insisted on a referral sooner .  The GP said it could be difficult to remove because it's in the bridge of nose -sorry to waffle hut I'm just in panic mode

  • Hi,

The good thing is that your GP has referred you and it will be checked out by an expert. There is a good chance that it's something easily treatable like keratosis or non melanoma skin cancer (these only spread on the skin and not below the skin so can be treated with removal). If it needs removing for a biopsy it will be done by a Plastic Surgeon so they will try their best not to leave too much of a scar.

Try not to stress out too much if possible. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long for the appointment and you will know more then. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

  • Thank you so much for your quick reply . It helps to know there are things it could be other than cancer . I will be sure to update you again thank you for your reply
