Hard lumps in neck

Today I suddenly noticed two hard lumps, one underneath the other, on the side of my neck (just below where my jaw meets my ear). They are pretty hard and immovable but are a little bit painful to the touch. They are also visible under the skin if I flex my neck to show them and are each about the size of a coin. They seemed to suddenly appear today and it's completely panicked me. Almost exactly a year ago I had a lump in the exact same place but it wasn't as hard or painful to the touch and there was only one. I went to the GP for this lump but after about a week of having it and by then it had decreased a little in size. I was completely dismissed by the gp and told there was nothing there even though there was still a visible lump. After that though I figured it was fine and left it and it eventually did disappear. Haven't even given it a second thought until right now when these two lumps appear out of nowhere in the exact same place. Definitely not swollen lymphnodes as there's obviously two and they are hard to the touch. Just really confused and wondering if anyone has had something similar.

  • Hello ellaodd,

I am sorry to hear that you noticed these two hard lumps today. I think the best thing to do to reassure you is to make an appointment to see the GP. Perhaps you could ask to see a different GP from the one you saw last time just to get a second opinion. Do mention that you had had a lump a year ago in the very same place which eventually disappeared. It's always best to get any new lumps that appear looked at by a doctor.

I hope you'll meet others here who have had something similar and that they will share their experience with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing of concern!

    Best wishes,
