Can a GP say this?

Hi,

I found a pea sized lump around the top of my right testicle and after a bit of research I put my mind to ease it was just a cyst (mainly because I didn't want to go to the doctors). Anyway 4 months later this lump appears to have a grown and unsure if it is just me but I feel like my tesite has shrunk with a a slight dull ache sometimes but not always. I finally booked a GP appointment but he wasn't the most welcoming and rang me on the day to say can I come in now instead of later as I'm his last patient and he can leave for the day (this was at 10am! ) anyway I got there and it just felt rushed he said he couldn't feel it so I showed him and he touched it for approximately 1-2 seconds and went oh yes that's not cancer, but I'll book you an ultrasound however it's nothing to worry about and said I can go.

I felt rushed and feel like I wasn't checked properly so I am glad I am going for an ultrasound to confirm everything, but can  a doctor rule out cancer from a quick touch?

  • Hi

Its best to have the lump looked at by ultrasound.

The GP can't know for sure what it is by touch alone!

An ultrasound will put your mind at rest x

  • Can you get another GP? The ultrasound should show anything abnormal but the GP should have conducted a proper physical examination. 1-2 seconds is negligent...physical exam should take a few minutes at least and I don't like how dismissive he was. Keep an eye on your symptoms, get a second opinion, go for the ultrasound. After the ultrasound, you might need an MRI- it has better imaging techniques.
