Polyps

Hi everyone. I'm new to this so will keep it short but just want some advice and guidance. In 2012 I had a scan which showed I had a uterine polyp. I suffered with the worst periods ever my whole menstrual life. I had pre cancerous cells removed when I was 18 years old(now 40) with regular smears since then.also have hpv from age 18 too.

so I went back to my doctor and requested an ultrasound because the periods were so intense and 12 hours after it was done the doctor rang me to tell me the same polyp was still there and they are going to look at it. I'm concerned as to why it's still there and what this could mean. With my previous history and other symptoms (bleeding during and after intercourse, vaginal discharge) can anyone give me any realistic advise as to what to expect from here on out. Tyia

I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with some long-term health problems. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about the polyp that's been seen on your ultrasound.

Polyps are fairly common so try and stay positive for the moment. It's easy to be worried about worse case scenarios but hopefully, you won' have to wait too long for an appointment with the gynaecologist and they will be able to give you some reassurance about things.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
