My 18 y/o daughter may have bone cancer. Heartbroken.

Hi Everyone,my 18year old daughter is waiting for her 2 week referral to the hospital,as her doctor basically said her MRI showed that she has a tumour on her knee, and it's very likely bone cancer, this was a massive shock, and were all heartbroken, the wait is unbearable,I want to hold on to the little percentage that he said it might not be but the doctor went into an awful lot of detail for him not to be so sure, has anybody else been in a similar situation where the doctor might of got it wrong?  X

  • Welcome to the forum Viks07 although I'm very sorry to hear your daughter may have bone cancer.

No doubt you're both contending with a lot of emotions at the moment but nothing is set in stone just yet so do keep trying to remind yourself that it may not be bone cancer but something else.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences and offer their support but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses whilst you wait, they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Fingers crossed the referral comes through soon and your daughter receives good news.

    Kind regards,

  • I have nothing to add other than I'm very sorry to hear this news. There have been many times that suspected cancer has turned out not to be, and I'm guessing that they will need to investigate it further with a biopsy. but even if it is your daughter is very young and I presume in very good health which should stand her in good stead to have a very positive outcome and long and fulfilling life ahead of her. Please do take care abs keep us posted on her progress Charl x
