possible cancer symptoms

Hello,

I am 22 years old and for the last few months I have began to develop a number of symptoms that could indicate cancer, some of which are headaches which feel like I have been hit round the head, nausea 24/7, feeling lathargic, needing the toilet more than normal, constantly feeling like I need the toilet even if I have just been, vision issues, unexplained weight loss, a continuous cough (not covid related), severe sleep sweats, memory issues and breathlessness.

On top of this I have 4 lumps located on my head and neck, one of which I was told was most likely not cancerous but they will send it off for an examination, this was a year ago and the lump is still on my head.

I was sent for a urgent blood test and all my results came back fine, but I have a feeling something isn't right. My mum believes that they are all side effects of my medication (sertraline) but I have been on that medication for almost a year now and I have never has any problems with it. Additionally, I feel like my doctor won't take me seriously due to my age.

Is there anyone who has any advice or has any idea of what I should do, as it would be really appreciated.

  • Hello wolxari,

It's encouraging that your results came back fine, but if you're still concerned you should speak to you doctor and hopefully they can get to the bottom of it. Please don't be afraid to ask questions, as they're doing their best to help understand your symptoms.

    Best wishes,

  • They are sending me off for more blood tests to see if they can figure out what is wrong, they said that they are going to try and cross off all other options before sending me for scans to check for anything more sinister as apparently my symptoms are common in a lot of different illness.

Also I don't want them to think that i'm self diagnosing by bringing up cancer, I am just worried in case it is.

    Hoping for the best
