Im sorry to hear you've found a lump. The good news is 9 out of 10 lumps turn out to be nothing sinister.

It's good you've made contact with your GP and please go back if the lump has got bigger. Whilst scary an appointment with the breast clinic can put your mind at rest.

Thank you Debbie, I think I needed that data. 

Having just lost a friend aged 30 to cancer, its hitting me really hard to have found a lump. I really wanted the antibiotics to work and feel devasted that they not only didn't, but that the lump is now bigger. 

Maybe that means it is a cyst effected by hormone changes, as I had a positive ovulation test 3 days ago. That's what I try to tell myself. X

Unfortunately I had breast cancer at the age of 35 but my chances of having it were 0.5%, I was extremely unlucky. Don't let that frighten you though. 

I've had many friends over the years go to the breast unit with lumps and none of them have been cancer. Most were fat lumps and some cysts. 

it can be very difficult when you've just lost a friend to cancer but please remember it's very rare, especially at a younger age x

It's ways the bad experiences that stick with you, not the everything was OK. I can find ten stories where it was nothing then 1 where it was and that's the one that I'm obsessed with.

I know what you mean, the bad stories are the ones our brains seem to recall!

I would also add that breast cancer lumps don't tend to be mobile or painful, that's another positive!! 

Saw the same ANP today. She agreed it has gotten bigger and put through the two week referral. Can't prescribe more antibiotics. She did mention cysts do grow, so I'm really hoping that's what it is. It's very tender and painful to feel. Will keep updating with any news.

Do you find out same day if any cause for concern at the breast clinic?

Yes I did, they took a biopsy and told me to bring someone with me to get the results!! 
 

They later told me that they wanted to tell me that day that it looked liked cancer but couldn't find the consultant!

They usually tell people on the day if it's something to be concerned about x
