Abnormal Bone Marrow on Lumbar MRI

Hello,

To preface, I am a 22 year old female, I don't drink and I don't smoke, I am a healthy weight, and I'm not anemic.

I had an emergency lumbar MRI a few days ago to rule out CES, and when the doctor came to give me the results I was told that there had been some 'changes' from my previous MRI from when I was younger and that my bone marrow was abnormal. Apparently I have absolutely no fatty marrow at all.

What could this mean? Both doctors that I have spoken to have been very vague with me and I feel like they're trying not to worry me, but I'm one of those people who just want to know what the possible outcomes are. I can't get answers from anybody. All I know is that a specialist spine consultant will be looking at my MRI urgently and that I'll know on Monday what the plan of action is.

Please help! I feel so in the dark.

  • Hi yxnglia,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand this must be confusing and unsettling. I'm sorry you haven't received a reply up to now - I see that today you are expecting to find out more. I hope that you get the answers you need, and any next steps, and of course do make sure you make the most of the appointment to ask any questions you have.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hello,

I had a phone call with the doctor who told me that the spinal consultant was unreachable by phone on Friday so now I'll have to wait until Thursday to find out anything. I feel like crying. If anyone has ANY experience or advice I'd be really appreciative.

    Thank you!
