Lumps and hvp seen on colposcopy

Any advice?

I have just been for a colposcopy and they removed 2 lumps and have taken a biopsy as they have seen hpv changes (white patches) They said results in 3 weeks but I'm worried sick. I'm 29 and have a severely disabled child who needs care 24/7

any reply would appreciateted

  • Hi Vicky

It seems that having the HPV virus has caused changes to your cervical cells, which show up as white areas when the liquid is applied to your cervix at the colposcopy. It’s standard for biopsies to be taken to be checked, but this does not mean that you have cancer. These kinds of results can be very worrying, but normally the outcome is pre cancerous cell changes which will be either monitored or treated. I know it’s hard, but try not to worry yourself too much or let your thoughts run away with themselves at this point. x
