Hello, new here

Hi!

i do not have a cancer diagnosis, and I hope I don’t but I went to the doctors on Monday with this lump I found in my breast, it’s hard and round and on the lower side. Anyway I have to go back next month to see if it will be smaller, which I know it won’t be because I lied about when found it because I have literally never had a dr take me seriously, so it’s been there a while. It’s small, but when I told her my lymph nodes get big and hurt sometimes she got more serious and it scared me. So I don’t know, really worried about it being something with the boyfriend saying ‘don’t worry’ it’s like ‘that’s alright for you to say!’ And there’s no ‘what if’ forum so I know this isn’t the place for this. But what happens if it’s something? What will the doctor do or suggest? I can’t seem to find much. Sigh, so, hello!

  • Hello EnidColeslaw and a warm welcome to our forum!

I know you were worried about not being taken seriously, but it's probably best to be honest with the doctor about when you found this lump so I suggest you get in touch with them and tell them the truth about how long you think you've had it. It may be that they then decide to make things move a bit faster for you. If they are concerned about this lump, you will be referred to the breast clinic but that doesn't mean at all it is cancer as a majority of lumps turn out not to be cancer.

You can find out more about what to expect from your breast clinic appointment on this page and you will find a PDF on that page which goes into detail about what happens at the breast clinic and the types of tests you may have to do.

I hope you will hear from other members here who have been been in a similar place before and that they will come and share their story with you.

Everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing to worry about!

    Best wishes,
