Test results before biopsy results?

Hello All,

I am looking for some advice please, my mum has had breathing problems for some time and (due to covid) only just had her scans. We were called in and told she has a nodule over 11mm on her right lung and that it could be cancer. Since then she has had bloods, breathing tests, a pet scan and on Friday a lung biopsy. However we had a letter come through dated the day before her biopsy to book her in to see her respatory specialist on Wednesday (now tomorrow).
Has anyone had this before? Can they give results before having the biopsy? I am so confused and stressed for her I don't know which way to turn.
thank you in advance xx

  • Welcome to the forum Katy although I'm sorry to hear that your mum could have cancer.

I know there was some confusion about the different tests and appointments your mum was due to have over the next couple of days but I hope her appointment with the respiratory specialist went well yesterday and you were able to get some of your questions answered.

In the meantime, I want to wish your mum all the best with her lung biopsy tomorrow and let you know that if either of you would like to get in touch with our team of cancer nurses to talk things through, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
