Long Breast lump?

Hi I haven't seen anyone with this question before so thought others out there like me might be hiding and searching.

I have a long hard lump in my left breast that sites just under my nipple its about the 2-3 inches long and goes across the way length wise and is about 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick.

It can move to behind my nipple but i cant move it left to right. I have 0 pain but an itchy armpit but GP said they are all fine no lumps in there.

Has anyone had anything like this?

I spoke to my GP as all bar one family member (parents aunts/uncles) has had and passed with cancer and the one survier did have breast cancer and beat it :)

I have been refered which is good as they can find out what it is but my GP isnt too worried about it.

Anyone else had something similar?

  • Hi coffeeandcakemum,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear you've spoken to your doctor about this and that you have a referral - hopefully it won't be long before you get your appointment and some answers about this.

If anyone here has similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

If you'd like some information about what to expect at the breast clinic, please have a look at this info from Breast Cancer Now.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi,

When I was breastfeeding last year I felt a ridge type thing under my right nipple and when I lie down it didn't feel like a defined lump but something felt different - sort of like what your describing. Saw GP who wasn't concerned. Kept obsessing over it and so I went back to the GP this week. She said she was pretty sure it was nothing sinister but because it was the second time I'd been in she'd make a referral. I originally had appt booked for 27th but they phoned today today as they had a cancellation.

Whole process very slick and everyone was so lovely - Doctor came in and did breast exam and said it was normal and just glandular tissue. They did ultrasound of the area to be doubly sure and consultant radiographer confirmed the same thing doctor said.

I wanted to share my story with you as it's always nice to hear positive stories when your going through an anxious wait. I worried myself sick and convinced myself something was wrong despite everyone trying to convince me otherwise.

I hope you get some equally good news.

Also you can ring the hospital and ask to be put on cancellations list - if you can attend appts at short notice then you might be able to get seen quicker.

You've done the brave step of getting this checked out!! We need to get our lumps and bumps checked.

    xxx

  • Wow thank you so much!!

It is nice to see some positive news in such scary times!

I was asked if i had breastfed ect and i am thinking it might be a milk gland or something.

I have my appointment tomorrow now and will pop on what happened for others as well.

So glad you had a positive result and experiance! :) xxx
