Colon polyp found

Hi all, had some various gastro issues and had a colonoscopy yesterday where a 6mm polyp was found. Long story short but the Dr couldn't find the polyp again when he went back to remove it so I have to have a repeat colonoscopy to have it removed and to find out what type of polyp it is. I also recently found out I have some gallbladder polyps. Read there's a connection with gallbladder and colon polyps. Dr doesn't think issues I'm having are related to the colon polyp and it was likely an incidental finding. I'm 33 and feel very anxious about a polyp being found. Online it references that people who are a bit older having polyps. I'm also generally healthy and eat very well. My Grandad had colon cancer in his 60's so a mild family history. Any words of wisdom as I can't stop thinking about it would be great. Thank-you xx

  • Hi Totoro123,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can imagine this must be unsettling and I know it's never easy when there is this uncertainty and waiting for information.

It's good to hear that this is being checked out and that there are some next steps in place. I understand it must be difficult, so just try to take things a day at a time. It may help to keep busy and distracted while you wait, to help keep your mind off things.

I hope you're able to find out more and get some answers soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Thanks Dr has reassured me that the polyp is benign but it's just the waiting and knowing that I'm going to have to be monitored that makes me feel a bit anxious. Thanks for your reply.
