Cannot sleep with worry. How can I see another doctor?

I have been with this surgery just over 2 years and they are hopeless, the main doctor is so ignorant I put a complaint on against him.

I got to see a temporary doctor march and he was wonderful and caring, when talking to him he noticed my voice was a bit hoarse so he sent me for a chest x-ray,

When it returned he got in touch to tell there was something  on x-ray so he made another appointment for second x-ray on 1st July, I kept on ringing surgery to ask about results and it was over 3 weeks before they came back, I talked to receptionist and she said I had to wait 4 weeks, in the end I have just had referral on 10th of September 9 weeks after having x-ray from doctor I complained about, the nice doctor has left as he was only temporary.

I am absolutely terrified and cannot sleep and I am sure it is lung cancer, I don't smoke now but did smoke for 30 years and I have mild COPD.

I know lung cancer is one of the worse cancers to have and I don't think this doctor is going to give my any help!!!

I've only found out last week that there is white marks on lung, every time I asked receptionist they said doctor was busy but there was nothing to worry about and it took 9 weeks to get back to me.

I have just today got appointment for X-ray Friday 17th September, do not know when I'll hear from surgery.

This doctor is horrible, there's been loads of complaints against him, is there anyway I can see another doctor if not happy with his reply. I do not mind paying (I have just received my pension so I have a large sum) all my life I wanted to travel but dont think that will happen now and my son has just had the most beautifull daughter ever.

    Hi Khkev

Just read your post and I'm sorry your doctor has not been much help  to you he obviously has made you feel uncomfortable, and you don't seem to have much faith in him,so yes you are most  definitely  entitled to ask to see another doctor. Tell the receptionist you don't feel comfortable seeing your gp,explain the reasons  if you feel the need to,but if you get no joy there I'd definitely look into going private, as you say you have enough money to do so.

My son had a second oppinion  mths ago,and it cost him £250 for a half hour  consultation.

He just wanted a  know that a few of his  follow up trestments and plans were the right way forward. So his mind could be at rest.

Good luck going forward with what ever you decide to do,but as I said " you most definitely can choose to see another gp even if you have to go privately, it will. be worth it .
