HER2 test

Hi. I had biopsies both sides last week, and was told they would test for HER2 at the same time. So I haven't been given a diagnosis yet, but can I assume that through experience they can tell it's BC before the biopsy results come back? I was also told to carefully consider whether to convert a lumpectomy into a mastectomy in the meantime while I await actual results. Do they say this to everyone, or is it another clue that they know I'll need one? Sorry for so many questions, they are just popping up in my head as I am slowly processing what has happened in the last 3 weeks. Many thanks

  • Hello HeastaicGirl,

There's no way of knowing more until the results come back. If you have any questions or concerns, don't be afraid to contact your doctor as they will be the best people to advice you. It might help to write down your questions or bring a notebook to your next appointment.

    I hope this helps,
