Hi all,
I'm posting on here as I am going through a scary time with my health and desperate for some reassurance.
Since the 30th August of this year, I have had blood in my urine (with some small clots here and there) and no other symptoms other than urine retention.
I gave birth 12 weeks ago to a beautiful baby boy, it was a fast and traumatic labour to say the least and ended up suffering postpartum haemorrhage 1 week postpartum. The doctor found retained products of conception in my uterus around 1-2cm big, but told me they were too small to operate on and that it would cause me more harm than good. So he gave me antibiotics to clear it.
On the 3rd of August I went on the depo provera contraception injection as I suffer from excruciating periods and it's the only birth control I find helps ease the pain. I was due to come on my next period at the end of August, but instead of getting a period I found my urine was red/brown with clots, so I went to a&e as I knew this wasn't from a water infection because I wasn't going frequently and it didn't hurt to go. The doctor found no infection in the sample and told me to keep an eye on it. A few days later it was bad again, so I booked a private ultrasound of my bladder which revealed a 1.2cm growth next to my urethra - this scared the hell out of me!! I went straight back to a&e with the scan pictures, I started to feel unwell and saw a urologist the next morning as they kept me in for the night.
The urologist has taken a look at the scan pictures and is confident it is related to childbirth and that it is a blood clot that I'm struggling to pass. They gave me ciprofloxacin as they found an infection in a fresh sample I gave them. I have a Cystoscopy booked in for next Tuesday morning and I am TERRIFIED despite the urologists reassurance. I am only 25 and have a 3 month old son who needs me.
Since being on Cipro I have been drinking a lot of water to try and flush it out, my urine has been very clear these past few days with only the odd tiny speck of blood here and there (tends to be in my first morning wee or in the middle of the night) it seems to be getting better but when I see the odd speck of blood I get scared again and convince myself it's cancer.
Has anyone here been through similar? Or were your symptoms similar to mine or did it get worse rather than better?
Any input would be appreciated!!
Thank you,
Danielle
