Milk ducts to be removed.

Hi I just want to see if anyone's had any similar experiences. I went to the doctor about pain in my left breast and because I thought I found a lump. The doctor then sent me to breast clinic to get check out, I got a scan done and was told it was thickening of the breast and was totally normal, I mentioned that in my left breast I noticed clear discharge at random times. He got me back after 6 week and asked if I had experienced that again which I said yes and now he's got me booked in to remove all the milk ducts. I'm trying not to fear the worst but interested to know if this has happened to anyone else?

  • Hello mslh95

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some concerns about your breast health and that you're now waiting for surgery.

We do have quite a few posts where members have talked about their experiences of milk duct removal which you can find using the forum search function but I'd suggest having a look at this recent thread and maybe posting a reply on there to chat with others.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that your surgery goes smoothly and that the team is able to give you some reassurance.

    Best wishes,

  • I have had my milk ducts removed due to duct exctasia and frequent infections. After frequent ops to remove ducts l had a breast reduction to try to remove as much of the lower breast tissue  and ducts as possible.  It's been much better since the surgery my problem started after my daughter was born, many years ago. The inflamed ducts felt like a piece of wire hope your sorted soon
