Awaiting results polypoid endometrium

Hello everyone

I'm 41 suffer with extremely heavy and painful periods. I also suffer with extremely painful ovulation (so much so that I can barely move or speak for 24 hours or more).

I had a hysteroscopy a few weeks ago and got a letter stating that it showed a very thick wall and something called polypoidal endometrium. I have tried Googling this and can't find any info. Does anyone else have this? What does it mean? I do have a gp appt tomorrow for other things so I will ask but thought I'd ask here.

Also does anyone know roughly how long it's taking currently for biopsies to come back? The consultant said she will wait to see whether it's benign and bring me back for a general to do more. Although I'm not sure what she's planning on doing. I was in too much pain to ask.

  • Hello Georgimoon

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems recently. It sounds like it's been a very difficult time for you. Was the GP able to give you some further information and advice yesterday?

We know that it can be a difficult time waiting for results. Typically it takes a few weeks for biopsy results to be returned. If you're still waiting for news then you could give the Consultants's secretary a call to see if they're able to tell you how long before you hear some news.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they would be happy to offer any information and support that they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
