Burning pain and tenderness in area to side of right boob

Mid 50s, well past meno.  Suddenly 8 weeks ago, burning pain in right boob, moved round to settle in my side, literally the bit of your torso that your arm rests against when standing straight.

Burning, feels like skin is sensitive. Also an ache beneath. Sometimes sharp pains radiate into boob. Worse at night.  Not affected by coughing etc so not costochondritis.

Mamo and ultrasound clear.  Chest x ray showed nothing. Bone  Dr stumped, but also being a bit cagey when I asked if it could be serious . Meantime I haven't slept well in 2 months! Any similar experiences?  Waiting for CT referral.  Codeine doesn't help, nor do NSAIDs.  Sometimes it's awful, other times mild. But always there.  Thank you xx

  • Hello Scottishmuppet

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some breast concerns recently. it sounds like it's been quite a difficult time for you and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

It's good to hear that so far all the investigations you've had haven't raised any concerns. Hopefully, you won' have to wait too long for the CT and the results from that will either give the Dr's a better idea about what is causing the pain or will give you some reassurance that there is nothing sinister going on.

It can sometimes help to chat things through and if you'd like to speak with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
