Cervix lump and coloscopy appointment

I had a smear test and it was noticed I had a lump that the nurse said she hadn't seen before so a dr came in and looked and said nabothian cyst... fast forward 3 months and the lump has grown I have a heavy feeling and constipation as well as occasional lower back pain and lower adbomen... I saw my gp Monday as the lump felt bigger she said that my cervix looked "inflamed" and not regular (not sure what she meant) and she could see the lump although couldn't say if it was nabothian or not, she did take swabs and said she'd do an emergency referral to gynae team. I checked my nhs app and it said "suspected gynaecological cancer" which panicked me then today I got a call to say that tomorrow I'm going to hospital at 9am for a colposcopy appointment... will they tell me there and then what is going on with my cervix and the lump? I'm so worried

  • Hi Zara and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry no-one was able to get back to you before you went for your colposcopy appointment yesterday but I hope it went well and they were able to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

If there has been anything playing on your mind since then or something you've now remembered which you forgot to ask at the time then you're welcome to have a chat with our lovely team of cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help.

I hope it won't be long before you find out more about the lump and for your colposcopy results. We'll have our fingers crossed for good news when they come through.

    All the best,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
