Leukemia - Bad taste in mouth

Hello everyone,

My mother was recently diagnosed with AML leukaemia. One of the symptoms that we are really struggling with is a constant bad taste in her mouth. She had it before her diagnosis and it has carried on through her first round of chemotherapy. The problem is that it has made it very difficult for her to eat any real food. She is being fed through an NG tube for the most part at the moment but the doctors are keen that she starts eating real food otherwise they won't let her home before going back into hospital for her second course of chemo.

The doctors are baffled and Google isn't coming up with the answers so i'm hoping that someone on here has had some experience with this problem (and can suggest a solution!). A bad taste seams to be quite a common symptom of the treatment but I think in my mothers case, it is a symptom of the condition since it has been persisting since at least a couple of weeks before she was diagnosed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
