does everyone with a fibroadenoma get biopsy?

Hi,

I found a lump in my breast this week, visited my GP who referred me to the breast clinic and I was seen within 24 hours. I had a mammogram an ultrasound & 2 biopsy samples taken from my right breast. On consultation the Dr told me he expected the results to come back in 10-21 days & that I would need to come back into the hospital to have them. He said he thinks I have a begnign fibroadenoma but the biopsy will confirm.
I am 36 years old.

    HI Kkdolly,

A very warm welome to our forum.

I am glad to hear that you have been seen so quickly at the breast clinic. Most lumps are biopsied, as this is the only way for your consultant to make absolutely sure whether your lump is cancerous or benign.

I sincerely hope that your results come back as your consultant expects them to. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Thank you for your reply.

I will update you all. And thank you that has really put my mind at ease. Xx

  • Hello,

I know how out of your mind you must be with worry.

the consultant inspected my lump then sent me to have a mammogram, ultrasound and a biopsy. The mammogram was uncomfortable but not sore & the biopsy o honestly didn't feel a thing. (They can do other diagnostic scans too and in my clinic it's all done in the one appointment)

I went alone but if you have someone to take with you even to sit outside I'd definitely recommend that.

I have everything crossed for you!

plesse let me know how you get on. Good luck x
