CIN1 and HPV for second year in a row

Hello,

Ive just had a call from the hospital today for a colopscopy for CIN1 and Hpv for the second year in a row. They were very dismissive on the phone and at first wouldn't even tell me which level my results came back so don't have much information but is this normal? I know CIN1 and HPV is common but is it normal for it to not clear up in a year? Im worried it will develop into cancerous cells.

Im a bit hyper sensitive due to my mum having cancer treatment currently and shes so young so the worry has set in all day. It feels a bit like one thing after the other lately as we have had constant bad news so my anxiety is through the roof.

  • Hello Agirlandhiscat

I'm sorry to hear that your most recent cervical screening results have shown that HPV and CIN1 changes are present. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things particularly with your Mum going through cancer treatment at the moment.

It's not uncommon for changes to persist reappear. You might find it helpful to have a look at the information on the Jo's Trust website about this issue. Hopefully, it will give you some reassurance whilst you're waiting for your appointment.

If you'd like to talk to someone about your concerns then you're welcome to call our team of nurses on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm) or alternatively give the Jo's Trust helpline a call.

I do hope that things get sorted for you quickly.

    Best wishes,
