12 Week Wait!

Hi, I feel I just need to get my worry off my chest because it's going to go on for a long while!

I've had symptoms of cervical and ovarian cancer for months now but due to doctor delays from Covid I only managed to see one at the beginning of August. She has referred me to oncology but not having heard anything from the hospital I rang up only to find out it would be a 12 weeks wait before they could see me!

I've had a cancer scare before and the 2 week wait them was bad enough but I'm not sure how I will deal with 12 weeks! It's likely to be December before I have any answers and I can't help thinking things could have become a lot worse by then.

Is anyone else dealing with delays because of Covid? Just adds to the stress!

  • Yes, unfortunately! I was referred on the 2 week fast track referral pathway and GP said appointment would be within the two weeks..... my upcoming appointment will be 6 weeks since seeing GP. Appointment letter even states 'your GP has referred you to be seen within two weeks'. So not quite as long a delay as yourself, but yes the anxiety over it all is just awful! And makes me worry that if further tests etc are required following the initial referral appointment- how much longer will I have to wait for those too.... and any results?!

    I hope you are ok!

  • Yes, my care has been delayed because of covid too. It's so upsetting and worrying. I have a 10cm ovarian cyst that will be removed surgically soon but a biopsy will need to be taken  to see if it's cancerous. I've been told it's unlikely as it's a dermoid cyst but the size of the cyst is worrying and could indicate it's malignant.
