worried & confused after raised ca125 & abnormal ultrasound

Hi everyone,

Sorry for long post in advance

im 37 had 3 children

I went to my doctor a few weeks ago after suffering with excrutiating period pains for over a year in one side only and finally not being able to take anymore. The last 2 periods before going to the doctors were so heavy and i was passing clots that i could feel coming out of me the size of my palm

The doctor did an internal examination which was extrelely painful and caused me to bleed, he then ordered blood tests to be done and my CA125 levels came back raised at 58 (so not extremley high) i wasnt overly worried. He referred me urgently for a ultrasound and transvaginal ultrasound to check my ovaries. i had the appointment come trough which was 9 days after being referred i went for the scan and transvaginal scan which again was painful and they seemed to take a long time scanning over 30 minutes which i found odd dont know how long they normally take so shook it off.

They told me nothing on the day but the following morning i had a phone call from the doctors receptionist saying my scan results were back and the doctor needed to speak to me regarding them so 2 days later im in front of the doctor who tells me my ovaries were clear but they found a mass outside my endomitrial wall and he was referring me to a gynocologist on the urgeant 2 week pathway i didnt ask size of mass or what this means i was in to much of a shocked state i was 110% certain my scan was going to be clear. I have had my gynecologist appointemt through which is now tomorrow. Im so confused i feel like ive been in a whirlwind but at same time im so grateful all the appointments have happened so quickly. But i still dont know what is going on completely there is so many questions i want to ask my doctor but trying to get an appointment even via phone you are waiting weeks unless they want to speak to you for results etc. so im going to my appointment tomorrow not really knowing anything exceot they found something but i dont know what or what else it could possibly be.

Has anyone had anything similar that they found something on ultrasound and can offer any type of information of what to roughly expect to happen tomorrow. Thank you.

  • Hi Momof31984 and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry about the mass that was found but I hope your gynaecology appointment went well and they were able to put your mind at ease.

If there has been anything playing on your mind since speaking with them or something that has popped up that you forgot to ask, then you're welcome to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses next week. Due to the bank holiday weekend, they will be available from Tuesday onwards on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to talk about their experiences and offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
