Tongue and cheek biopsy pain and results

Hi everyone.
I'm looking for some advice and guidance please.
im very tongue tied and I recently had my tongue and cheek biopsy done (2days ago)

I am in absolute agony still. I can't talk properly and I still can't eat and I'm drinking through a bent straw on one side of my mouth and I have to tilt my head to the left to swallow.

I tried a very watery strained cup of soup yesterday cooled down and managed a bit before i was full.
ive brushed my teeth but I can't brush the right side at the bottom because I can't get the toothbrush in there.
I can taste something awful coming from my throat.
has anyone experienced this?
Also how long did it take to not be in tears from the pain.
I'm a carer so I need to go back to work ASAP but I'm getting next to no sleep and in agony.
also how long does it take for results on average.

Thankyou for reading

p.s. I've got a very high pain threshold normally. I gave birth natural with no pain relief and I'd rather do that than have this pain‍♀️

  • Hello jadephillippa

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having problems following your biopsy a few days ago. The mouth is such a sensitive area. Hopefully, you're feeling a little less sore today.

I note that you've said that you're unable to talk properly. Is there someone that you can ask to call the hospital team or your GP if you're still feeling worried about things?

Hopefully, if we've someone on the forum who has had a similar procedure done they will post to share their experiences with you.

I do hope that things settle over the coming days and that you don't have to wait too long for your results.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi. Thankyou for replying.
I went down to the doctors as it not far from my house. They gave me naproxen and omeprazole and told me to keep on as I'm doing. Still no change yet. Hopefully someone replies to be if they have any experience

    thankyou
