Trigger thumb - has anyone had this after treatment for BC?

I have had my right thumb clicking at the joints, ecspecialy where it bends in the middle. I also get pain at the base of the thumb. The thumb for the last week has been getting stuck ( won't bend) in the mornings. I googled it  and it has all the symptoms of Trigger thumb   I also found out it is a common thing for cancer patients who have had breast surgery, and suffering from lymphedema, which I was told I have.

I've googled excercises for this condition, and with massage and exercises I've found, I've managrd to get my thumb moving and bending again, but its still got the click in it when moving it. Has any other ladies on here had this,or got this after  breast surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, lymphedema.  And did they go to there  doctors, as if it keeps persisting, I will have to go to my doctors. And what did your doctors suggest for treating this condition  did yoi have steroid injections,( even though I've been told not to have any needles ie bloods taken on my affected side) or surgery, and if so did it help.

  • Hello Jassoscared

I'm sorry to hear that you've possibly got a trigger thumb after your treatment. I know how uncomfortable and frustrating that can be.

Do give your GP a call next week as there are some options to help and they may want to refer you to a physiotherapist.

I hope that it settles soon.

    Best wishes,
