Inflammatory breast cancer

Hello all,

for around 5 months I have had pain in my right breast, more recently it's been so painful that I need to hold the breast to help with the pain. There has also been some blood from the nipple area. I've had two lots of antibiotics due to the fact they thought it was mastitis but that hasn't worked so they have now said it's not this. I've just had a scan done today and was advised everything looks fine, but from what I've read online which I know I shouldn't I do have concerns it may be inflammatory cancer. My great grandma had breast cancer and my mum currently has ovarian cancer. Am I over reacting here, hoping for some advice?! X

  • Hello gggarner

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some concerns about your breast health recently and that your Mum currently has ovarian cancer. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

Unfortunately, we know that many people find themselves feeling more worried after searching online for information and we'd recommend giving Google a wide berth.

It's good to hear that the scan didn't reveal any cause for concern but obviously this still leaves you with some concerns and no answers. I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses? I'm sure that they will be happy to offer any information, advice, and support that they can/ They're available Monday to Friday (exc. bank holidays) from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you get some answers and that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
