Complex cyst

Any advice or support welcome...

I'm 46, had a massive bleed 2 weeks after period and put down to peri menopause. Had missed a couple of periods for the previous months then 2 period 2 weeks apart. Went drs to discuss HRT and exam found lumps on left ovary which were confirmed with ultrasound as 16cm complex cyst. Ca125 was 65 and dr warned of ovarian cancer.
referred to gynaecology and reassured as pre menopause risk is low with RMI of 65 (200+ is high risk).

MRI completed and risk increased to RMI 195 (intermediate risk). Referred to MDT who have advised surgery to remove both ovaries tubes hysterectomy also omentum and peritoneum. Surgery should be in next 2 weeks.
The wait is horrendous.
Feel pregnant with the pressure on left ovary and unable to simply roll over in bed without sitting up. getting sharp pains in under arms/breasts/pelvic region- is this normal?? Or psychological?

has anyone else had similar and good outcomes? Or just want to talk?

  • Hello Worriedas

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns recently and that you're now waiting on surgery. We know that this period of uncertainty can be incredibly difficult for many people and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things. I think that many people here will also understand that it's not uncommon to have new aches and pains after getting this kind of information. If you're worried about new symptoms do let your GP or the Consultant know though.

It can often help to talk things through with someone and I'd encourage you to give our team of nurses a call and chat with them. I know that they'll be happy to offer any advice, information, and support that they can ahead of your surgery. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you're getting on.

    Best wishes,
