Signs of breast cancer

My Mother in law lives in Fiji (where they have poor healthcare at the best of times but during a pandemic it's non existent) her breast left side breast has greatly decreased in size over the last year the remaining breast appears bruised with dimples on the skin and some small dark patches. She is not experiencing any pain in the breast. At the beginning her left arm was swollen but is now returned to normal size. I'm extremely worried could this be signs of cancer.

family tried to take her to the hospital but they said they could not perform any scans as the equipment was not in working order and she would be fine with just plenty of care and healthy diet.

  • Welcome to the forum Daks although I'm very sorry to read your post. This must be very frustrating for you and your family.

Many of our members know how tough being so far away from loved ones when they're facing uncertain times can be, so you're not alone and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

Unfortunately I don't have any knowledge of how the health care system works in Fiji but if there is an option of getting a second opinion, maybe this is something your family/mother-in-law could look in to if her symptoms persist? Hopefully you can get some more information and advice from Fiji's Ministry of Health and Medical Services website as well.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I hope your mother-in-law is able to get some answers soon Daks.

    Kind regards,
