If it helps I was panicking with a small lump under my ear and slightly below the jaw.  It had been there years but I thought it might be getting bigger.  GP saying it was a cyst didn't really appease me and neither did seeing a consultant who also said it was a cyst,.  Eventually asked to have an ultrasound which came back fine and that consultant said it was just an enlaged lymph node that had probably stayed up after an infection.  Hvaing the ultasound put my mind finally at rest though so maybe ask for one when you visit your GP.  Dr Google is the worst thing to do and I'm speaking from experience.  Still do it and have to slap myself.  Hope things go well with the GP.

Thanks for your reply - I'm so glad yours turned out to be nothing sinister.  I'll make sure I push for an ultrasound when I see the dr.  Dr Google really is the worst!
