I’m 22 and I’ve a lump

Hi, I went for my first breast check in a breast clinic  ever which was just a nurse running her hand over my breasts, she found a lump she said she's not worried about it but she orders for a ultrasound. I could have sworn she said it'll take months for an appointment. Won't it grow by then? Is that a normal wait time I'm very worried about it.

I'm sure she was saying she's not worried to not worry me but there was her who checked it then she sent someone else in to check me to I could hear yhen muttering and sharing looks. does anyone have any experinace in this should I save and go private to fast track this.

  • Hello Lunerlilly

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been referred for an ultrasound following a visit to the breast clinic. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things.

I can see that you also posted in our Ask the Nurses topic area and that Nurse Martin has already replied to your post there. I hope that you've been able to get a hold of the clinic or your GP to clarify how long the wait for the scan may be.

The vast majority of women seen at breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer so try to remember this and keep positive whilst you're waiting for your scan. Hopefully, you won' have to wait too long for some news.

    Best wishes,
