Lumps and bumps

About a week ago while showering I felt a tiny lump in my breast, today the lump felt bigger and the tissue surrounding it is more firm so I booked a doctors appointment.  They have sent me for a referral for suspected cancer. I was sent for a blood test within the hour and was told by the nurse they are rushing the test through,  and less than an hour after the blood test I've been given an appointment for the breast clinic.

My question is, do they put so much urgency in for every lump found or do they highly suspect this could be cancer?  I'm OK, not feeling upset or worried, in fact handling it far better than I expected. But just wondering if this level of urgency is normal.

I'm sorry to hear that you had to be referred for an urgent appointment with the breast clinic although I'm glad to hear that you're handling this situation well.

Not having a medical background it's tough for me to say why doctors put urgency in the appointments when lumps or bumps are found. My guess is that doctors want to rule out worst case scenarios and treat those who are problematic as soon as possible?

Hopefully others who have a better idea will come here soon to chat with you and offer their opinion.

    Best wishes,
