Never ending wait for results

After a year of frequenting my GP, eating omeprozole and laxidos like their peanuts and tequila slammers being told my stomach pain is stress.  I now have a rugby ball shaped mass in my stomach, so having begged my GP for a CT Scan, I then had to drive to get CT Scan at a hospital 200 miles round trip away from my local hospital.  The CT Scan came back 18 days later and showed a shadow on my liver and an umbilical hernia measuring 4cmby4cm.  I was then referred for an emergency mri scan and prior blood tests.  Which I received within 5 days of being telephoned about the ct scan results.  I called the hospital as this is now day 4 after having had MRI to be told they don't have the results back from MRI yet.  So I called MRI and the radiographer said that it could take up to 12 days, I said to her oh well that's fine, I said I don't know why I'm personally so worried about it, and calling round the hospital departments like I'm Bob Hoskins from BT, there's absolutely no point in me losing any more sleep about what this could be, in fact why don't you take four weeks to get back to me cos in the meantime I will just ignore this rugby ball pointing out of my stomach, when I eventually pull my socks and shoes on today I think I will go outside to the garden bend over on my knees and spend a few days planting pansies and plants in my garden, hopefully the blood that comes out of my mouth when I bend will give the plants more nourishment and I will preoccupy myself with that till someone gets round to calling me in a months time to let me know that it's curtains for me.  Yep, you take your time, might I suggest reading a 1985 readers digest, it's a great way to take your mind off things, if your looking for a copy just pop along to your mri waiting area, have a lovely day, lovely day!

  • Hi Grace001,

I'm sorry to hear you're having to wait so long to find out what's going on. As we're now nearing that 12-day timescale, hopefully you'll find out soon - if you haven't already.

I know the waiting is never easy so I hope you get the answers you need soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
