Endometrial polyps advice

Hi to all of you who have posted on the Endometrial Polpys advice forum. I have just had a hystology and polpectomy and a marin coil fitted. All those stories sound familar luckily when I was younger I had 'normal' periods that lasted 5-7days but when I was in my 40s my periods started to change. I just accepted it as my age and my body changing and also because I was sterilised (I have four grown up children). I think if we know what is normal for us is really important and not to be fobbed off with it is just your periods. Because it is often an early warning system telling us something is not right. I wished I had got things sorted earlier rather than just accepting periods with heavy bleeding through pads. After having four children I was alughed at for going to a & e one christmas because I could not even stand up for the pain I was in plus I  was haemorraging.....the blood was pouring out of me. Just told it was my periods......only as I got older when I became menopausal did I get to see a consultant. After a scan a thickening of my uterus was spotted and a camera showed up that there were polpys on that occasion I stupidly did not get them removed. I had a bleed about 6 weeks ago, after seeing my doctor on Monday by Friday seeing the consultant and ultrasound with a treatment to try to remove my polpys. Because so many and not all could be reached had to go in for a general aesethtic for complete removal and biopsy last Friday. I am awaiting the results. All I can say is that all women need to know to get checked regarding heavy and painful periods or anything irregular....and not accept it does not need checking further. 25% of all women get polpys in their uterus. I came across a useful website for information and advice for women regarding gynae health ....Ask Eve. It is excellent.  My mother died of endometrial cancer aged 69 she suffered with heavy periods as long as I could remember and she thought it was her lot in life.....if she had got help sooner she might have lived longer and had a better life and health. She also bled post menopausally and refused to get it checked. Ladies anything not normal for you, or does not feel right.....get it checked out as soon as you can and do not give up until you see a consultant.
