Really scared and anxious - spotting after years on pill

Hello.

I'm looking for anyone with a similar experience or really just some reassurance as I'm so scared and worried and my anxiety is taking over :(

I'm 26 years of age and I have been on the cilest combination pill for about 6 years. About a year ago it changed to generic cilique.

About 3 months ago I experienced spotting mid cycle. Not a lot just when I wiped. I had a smear test in February 2020 which came back normal. I was so worried when this happened so went to the doctor. She sent me for a pelvic ultrasound which was normal and took bloods which came back normal. However this month, I just noticed some brown blood on my underwear in the middle of my pill packet again.

 

im so worried it's cervical cancer. I always take the pill free week so I'm terrified. My doctor wouldn't give me another smear test so I have now booked a private one for this week. I'm really looking for some advice as I can't stop crying :( I'm fearing the worst and I'm absolutely terrified.

    I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some health concerns recently. Although it's not uncommon for women to experience some breakthrough bleeding whilst on the pill, it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things. You've done exactly the right thing in speaking to your GP about this and it's reassuring to hear that no concerns were raised following your blood tests and ultrasound. 

    It's unfortunate that you've not been able to have another cervical screening with your GP to give you some reassurance but hopefully, the private appointment that you have booked this week will help to put your mind at ease. 

    In the meantime, try to take things a day at a time and not think too far ahead as this will leave you feeling more anxious about things.
