Hi, I am 45 and have been menopausal for 5 years and haven't had a period for over a year. My mum died in her forties from breast cancer. In March I contacted my gp because I had been bleeding on and off for 9 weeks. I would stop for a day then start bleeding again. I said I had sex in between the times I had stopped. My gp referred me for a urgent appointment and I was told that my appointment would be in March 2023. When I spoke to her about this I was told the backlog was because of COVID and there was nothing else she could do and I should go private if I wanted to be seen quicker. So I paid £200 to see a private doctor who didn't seem to be interested in my symptoms and didn't ask me any questions she just read the notes from my doctor. She has referred me to have a colposcopy ( but put me on her nhs waiting list). I have spoken to my doctor again today to tell her I am still bleeding ( 5 separate occasions and not related to having sex) and have abdominal and back pain she has said that her first diagnosis was incorrect and I need to speak to hospital with new symptoms. I am so worried and confused now. Am I having the correct tests. Any advice welcome x x
