Bowel cancer?

Hi,

this is my first time in the form so I'm sorry if I format anything wrong.

three months ago I noticed a drastic change is my bowel movements, and since it's not gotten any better, if anything it's becoming worse. Along with this came severe abdominal cramps and very bad heartburn/indigestion.

over the last two weeks I've noticed blood and mucus in my stool, so I went to the doctor and they've sent me to get a colonoscopy and an endoscopy.
i normally wouldn't ever jump the gun and self diagnose with the help of Dr.Google, but my family has a severe history of bowel cancer.

theres no real purpose to this discussion other than to talk with people who've had similar experiences and to garner some knowledge and perspective.

obviously nothing is known until my tests are done so I don't want to talk to my family about it and get them worried,

thanks in advance

  • I've also had really bad pains in my lower legs to the point where sometimes I can't stand, I doubt this is related but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone experienced something similar

  • Hi have you done a fit test ? My sister has done a fit and it was positive. The doctor called to say they are suspecting cancer of the large intestine. She had had watery loose stools for several months now and the feeling of incomplete bowels and severe abdominal pain where she has vomited. I’m feeling distraught. Her symptoms are text book cancer symptoms so I’m not really seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The doctor was also so certain.

What are your symptoms? Sorry not much help.

  • Hi, I'm really sorry to hear about your sister, if you can please keep me updated on her diagnosis/progress I'd really appreciate it!
my fit test showed there were abnormalities, but myself and my doctor knew this would be the result as blood was visible in the stool. I'm still waiting for my colonoscopy and endoscopy to get biopsies.

my symptoms are pretty much a massive change in my regular bowel movements, the presence of blood and mucus, bad abdominal pain/cramping and heartburn.

my doctor was a bit more reserved in making any diagnosis until all the test results come back which makes sense, but because of past family history and my symptoms she's mentioned it's a possibility. Just trying to stay positive at this rate

your sister is lucky to have such a caring sibling to care for them, wishing the best for you both!

  • [@N1416]‍  Hi, what scares me the most is she has every single bowel cance symptom. I’m actually petrified it has spread cause of the pain she is in. Also discomfort whenever she eats. I’m praying so hard and trying to be hopeful but how can you be hopeful if she has every single symptom. :(

how long have you been waiting for you colonoscopy? I was actually referred also but I have been waiting almost two years due to covid.

  • Hey everyone

just to let you know I was diagnosed with a liver Tumor. Listen to your bodies

  • Oh im so sorry to hear this - stay strong and positive you will overcome this. Can I ask how you were diagnosed? Did you get a colonoscopy?

  • Hi- I am so sorry to hear this! I am awaiting a colonoscopy and endoscopy next Tuesday and dreading the outcome! Was it the colonoscopy that found your tumour? I hope it's treartable and that you are holding up ok. xx
