Postmenopausal bleeding over 75

Hi, I'd really like some guidance/reassurance - this is not in reference to me but to my mum.  She has had some heavy vaginal bleeding for a few days (brown in colour) which has now subsided.  She has been to the doctor and urgently referred to gynae - from what I've read it's very important to get this checked out early but I want to be prepared.  Does anyone have experience of this?  Thanks

  • Hello mrslovelady,

It's good the bleeding has now subsided and that she has been to the doctor about it. Hopefully the gynaecologist will be able to shed some light on what is going on. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you and your mum while you are waiting for this important appointment. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to be seen.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine for your mum.

    Best wishes,
