Breast dent getting deeper

Hi all,

I noticed a small dent on my left breast back in January 2019 that could only really be seen when the light was directed downward and my arm lifted up. I went to my college doctor and was told all fine, away I go.

Last November I went to my GP as I was concerned that it a) hadn't gone away and b) seemed to be beginning to go around my whole breast. She reluctantly sent me for an ultrasound and I finally got the appointment in March. The doctor did the ultrasound but it literally took about 2 minutes and she sent me on my way again saying all was fine. I'm 24 and was repeatedly told I was statistically too young to have anything wrong and that it was 'probably hormones' but I haven't actually been given a proper answer as to why a part of my body would just start indenting itself.

The above sounds very much like I'm a hypochondriac, however I've just looked in the mirror and the dent is now much deeper and visible even in dim lighting and has started circling it's way around my whole breast.

Essentially what I'm asking is - if it didn't show on an ultrasound (albeit a fairly rushed one) is there 100% guarantee nothing's wrong? Should I book a private ultrasound? I've felt fairly dismissed through this whole thing but my mind really is not at ease and I can't seem to find any other explanations for why my breast would start to look like this other than cancer.

If anyone could share any advice that would be wonderful!

  • Hello Sm6196

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently noticed some further changes to your breast. Please do get back in touch with your GP to let them know about your concerns.

Whilst the majority of breast changes don' turn out to be cancerous, it is important to get things checked and for you to have some reassurance as well.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
