Ultrasound tomorrow

Hey,

my dr suspects I have bladder cancer owing to the blood in my urine and also the small clots I have passed, I have zero other symptoms so I am hoping she is wrong. Can cancer in the bladder be detected via an unltrasound scan? Checking on other peoples stories apparently it can be missed?
I might be just worrying about nothing, I'm 45 and this has been going on for some time, in fact I had to insist to the dr receptionist to give me an appointment, I've had my hospital appointment in two working days which is great, could the hospital have seen something in the urine the dr sent off?

sorry for so many questions, just panicked

  • Hello MrsStubbs

I just wanted to post to say that I hope your ultrasound went smoothly today. I'm guessing that the sonographer wasn't able to give you any information and that you're now going to be waiting to hear back from your GP. Hopefully, you will have some news within a few days.

We know that waiting for tests and results can be a difficult and worrying time. It can sometimes help to talk things through and I'm wondering if you might find it helpful to chat with one o four nurses. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch MrsPotts and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • That's exactly what happened, the lovely and very kind sonography lady said that it's hard to see on an ultrasound because if the bladder is full, it's a black hole and if it's empty it closes back in on itself, I understand that maybe this is a box ticking exercise.

my worry is that my GP is utterly useless and I won't get any further help from them and I will be left to worry further, they never follow up even though the lady I saw said she would suggest a procedure that would use a camera to have a better look,is there anything I can do? I have to wait for at least 45 mins to 1.5 hours to get through to my surgery and even then I'm not guaranteed an appointment, I feel utterly bereft
